Pineapple Dishes

Yes they’re still here. Pineapples are featuring strongly this season again and while I wouldn’t necessarily advocate buying into every trend, these three dishes seemed the perfect way to do so as they are beautiful, not just for the pineapple shape, but also for the materials they are made from.

I could totally imagine using two of three of these on a table for salad, cheese or canapes and then use them as fruit bowls afterwards. They don’t shriek “fad” every time you walk past  – well admittedly that would be quite weird and possibly a little frightening – but, what I’m trying to say, provide a way of nodding to the ubiquity of the pineapple but in a way that has a little more longevity.

I would use these bowls whether pineapples were fashionable or not, which is the basic test isn’t it? It’s back to the old vintage handbag test; do you want it because it has a Prada label or because it’s a beautiful bag?

The other way to do a quick fad is ironically but these aren’t that either. That way is via the gold pineapple icebucket – which ought to be vintage – and with which I am totally on board, by the way.

After all, I have a giant (ironic) flamingo in my bathroom.
