Today we’re going to have a walk through some of my favourite rooms of the year. At attempt to create the perfect 10 room house if you will. We’re starting with this wonderful kitchen from Plain English as a friend of mine has just recreated the paint effect and it looks so amazing, I’m not even sure I can be her friend any more… am definitely thinking of busting out the tongue and groove in 2016 that’s for sure.
Next up the sublime Soho House in Istanbul. This follows all my design rules in one go: old, new, black, gold. I might have to move to Turkey so I can join…
Another of my favourites – dark walls, lots of textures and a patterned tile floor. I definitely need to find some glossy black tiles for next year as well.
This was a kitchen that many of you liked so have another gaze. Those dark cupboards, the vintage wooden stools, the copper sink. Let’s be adventurous in our decor next year.
I found this picture shortly before visiting a client in her own warehouse conversion. I have always loved the colour of plaster and, combined with the black and concrete, this softens what might be a fairly cavernous space. I’d quite like to live here too.
Here’s a bathroom I’d quite like in my house. Black and white floor tiles, black cupboards and polished plaster walls. I particularly like the round finger holes for handles.
Visiting another client last week, I was thrilled to see her whole dining room painted in Farrow & Ball Hague blue. It looked amazing and I love how these marble metro tiles have been laid in a herringbone pattern.
And these tiles. Couldn’t let another opportunity to look at these go by could we?
Panelling is another feature which I love but have always assumed you can’t have unless it’s original or you live in a Georgian house. Now I don’t know what this is from the picture, but I have seen panelling installed to great effect over the last year and would definitely like to do it in The Mad House. It could work really well in the library on the wall which doesn’t have bookshelves. That’s definitely one for the list. I wonder if I could get away with it at the dining end of the kitchen, which is currently quite boring….
And finally one for warmer times. This covered terrace cheers me on the most miserable of days. Have a lovely week and if you get cold and stressed come back and imagine you are sitting on this grey sofa with a small glass of something warming.
Enjoy the rest of the week.
