This week there is a collection 10 of my favourite Beautiful Rooms. The Mad House is being driven Mad with internet issues – apparently BT need to come and look at a copper wire outside the house… This will take at least five working days. Yeah right….
In the meantime, the internet drops in and out, on and off, up and down and no sooner do I upload a picture than it disappears into the ether before a back-up can be created.
You all know how frustrating that can be in this day and age when we are used to 100 per cent connectivity at all times. So I thought I would take the opportunity to show you ten of my favourites on the basis that they are already uploaded.
Whether I can gather them into one single post for you remains to be seen but let's see how we get on. If you are reading this and it all tails off after about three images you'll know that the internet died, the laptop was hurled to the floor and I went to the pub.

And we've found one. I love this room with furniture by Gubi and the dramatically painted floor. If I ever get a polished concrete floor I would definitely think about adding a little elegant graffiti.
You know how I love an internal glass wall or window and this one, with its art deco ironwork patterns, is just heavenly. Continuing the theme but adding in a patterned tiled floor is this open plan space by Studio Nordes. There are a couple of things we can take from this: the draped pendant lights – these days who cares where the electricity comes from? There are so many elegant ways of moving it to where you need it to be. And the tiled floor, which softens the hard lines and injects some real personality into this room.

Three in and we're still here (it's taken ages mind so I wouldn't hold your breath for ten. Think of this as a behind the scenes look into the life of the blogger).
Shaker Kitchen by Devol
This is the fabulous Shaker kitchen by Devol and it's not hard to see how it has influenced my own kitchen which now has black cupboards and black doors at the end. I'm not going for the full-on exposed brick though. I think we're done with that. Or are we? What do you think?

There are so many things I love about this kitchen; I like the black walls and white cupboards – I would have been tempted to do it the other way round for fear of it appearing top heavy but it doesn't. Obviously the tiled floor and, in particular, the tiled kickboards. I am definitely doing this with my next tiling project. In fact I have done it in the bathroom but the tiles are all black so it doesn't really show. What works with this is that they are patterned so it makes a real statement. And, given that we all always have an awkward number of tiles left over at the end, it's a great way to use them up.
Halfway through and I'm only a little bit grey and more sweary than usual… It really is a race against time. Let's have a little sit down while we gear up for the second half. This room in the Istanbul Soho House is one I would never tire of. Those colours. Those proportions. Those walls. We can't have the walls, but we could push our comfort zones with a less than practical (you might think) pink sofa. After all if it works for hundreds of people in a club it should be able to cope with a family of four. Not one with toddlers mind. You lot should probably wait a few years before you try anything fancy like that. Use the stripes though. That's very practical. Hides a multitude of stains that.
Ready? No still not quite. Might move from the sofa to the bed for a little lie-down. It's very stressful this internet business and this dark bedroom by Little Greene is one of my favourites. It's Basalt, a sort of blue-black that changes according to the light.

Right then we're refreshed and rebooted. Literally. Let's see if we can get to the finish line… We'll start as we mean to go on – business-like in this study by Suzy Hoodless. Now, I would never have thought of putting patterned tiles in this room – I would have gone for the more traditional floorboards and rugs – but it works really well and brings a light touch to the dark decor.

Talking of unexpected touches, these green pendant lights are perfect in this kitchen below. It's an unusual colour and really brings the space to life. This is one of my top ten design tips – expect the unexpected – always try and add something that is a little different whether it's a colour or a texture that wouldn't traditionally be used or a piece of furniture from another room – the armchair in the bathroom for example. I have a small one that is very handy for draping all the clothes that I can't be bothered to hang.

Finishing, because it's one of my favourite rooms, and because frankly I need another lie down, with this. I hope you have enjoyed this selection of rooms. I think, if they're that beautiful one never minds looking at them a second time. At least I don't anyway.
