Now I sense this one might be controversial but it can be good to shake things up a bit. Either that or all the sun at the weekend has turned my head, but, I rather like this gold butterfly coffee table. Now before you all start shouting, it’s a question of how you style it.
It doesn’t have to sit on a soft rug and be all flowers and pastels. Imagine, instead, some floorboards. Plain and simple. A couple of sofas – perhaps on dark grey velvet and one in leather – tan perhaps. A range of cushions in black and white, ivory and natural textiles. A large plant – let’s go for a fiddle leaf fig. Now then, add this coffee table with its delicate gold butterflies that look like they have been suspended in mid-air in the middle.
See? I like it. If you have a girly moment you just need to make sure you balance it. Give it a bit of edge with some more masculine colours or shapes and it works.
Of course, you could totally put it on a soft rug in a room with blush pink walls. I still think it would need some black to anchor it – perhaps a light fitting – and then it could work really well. I see it in my fantasy dressing room…
What do you think? It’s from Graham and Green and costs £375 but if it’s going to be the show off piece in the room then you can spend a bit more, especially if you think you will love it for ever. And if you don’t think that then you shouldn’t be buying it. Or anything.
