10 Beautiful Rooms

Good Morning Everyone. Or possibly afternoon. Might even be evening by the time you drop in. Greetings to you all anyway. Are you ready for a stroll through 10 Beautiful Rooms? We’ve got some lovely ones for you this week.

First up, what do you think of this floor. My friend and business partner (together we are madabouttheoffice if anyone is interested….) has recently redone her bathroom and installed a concrete floor in the shower. It looks great and, apart from the fact that I’m slightly upset to admit that my first thought was “ooh non slip”, I was really taken with the idea and might copy.

Although I like how the one above has had a pattern etched into it and how brilliantly it flows into the floorboards. Watch this space…

Sticking with the same designer, I like this Italian house with its cool white walls and lots of rustic wood. In my fantasy life/parallel universe I shall own a house in Italy and it will be byootiful like this.

Next up bedrooms. If we redo the bathroom, which is an ensuite, we will need to give the bedroom a lick of corresponding paint as well. The current thinking is a pale grey but looking at these two rooms, I have to say I’m drawn to the dark one below rather than the white one above. What do you think?

This Clerkenwell apartment was designed by APA for the actor turned director Dexter Fletcher. Remember him from Press Gang? Who knew he would turn out to have a house this cool? Throw in a few vintage rugs and some large plants and I’ll take it over from him if he wants to move on. Or even if he doesn’t!

The next few rooms have been created by the architecture firm Patrick Lewis and I think we’re all going to agree that we like his style aren’t we?

I have always been a fan of the non-fitted kitchen although my husband has practicality issues with it, so I don’t suppose we’ll be having one of those any time soon. Still, no harm in looking is there? This one has the perfect mix of rustic wood, industrial features and dark wooden cupboards.

This is the same room from another angle. I love the contrast of the battered leather sofa ( I know it’s a cliche but still) and the floral tapestry cushions. I may have to ask these owners to move out as well. Then I can divide my time between Dexter’s house and this one

Or perhaps it will be this one. This clearly isn’t the biggest bathroom you have ever seen but boy isn’t it chic? We had wainscotting in our last bathroom and I loved it. It’s a great look in an old house and cheaper than tiles so you if panel the walls (not forgetting that you can change the paint colour as often as you like) then you can have a bit of a splurge on the floor tiles.

This is the kitchen in the same house. The tiles are from Fired Earth if you fancy. They look great with the vintage pizza boards propped up against them don’t they?

And finally, this is a rather fabulous room by David Kohn and just shows what you can achieve even when the room is a very awkward shape.

I hope you have enjoyed today’s rooms, let me know in the comments below.
