Friday househunting and this week we’re going monochrome in both London and New York with the former home of Johnny Rotten of the Sex Pistols and the US home (or should we say one of the US homes) of Rupert Murdoch. Have a wonder round these and see what you think. It pains me to admit that Murdoch’s house is really quite nice in parts, which is something I wasn’t expecting to say. See what you think…
It’s on the market with Dorothy Lenz for a squillion dollars – nearly $29m – he only bought it a year ago and for that you get four bedrooms. Yup that’s it. Anyway, don’t you think these rooms are surprisingly nice? Although perhaps it has a lot to do with those crittal windows.
The room below needs re-arranging but it has potentia,l and I’m quite keen on all the brass lights which really bring warmth to the monochrome colour scheme don’t you think?
So often these celebrity homes are either monuments to bad taste or they just look like luxury hotels. These few rooms do, at least, look as if a real person could live in them.
Admittedly, I’ve shown you the rooms I quite like. Here’s the hallway just to give you more of an idea, and do visit the real estate agent for more..
See what I mean? Next up, this next one doesn’t really have anything to do with Johnny Rotten as he apparently sold it in 1981 when he moved from to New York. Anyway, you know what they say – never let a story get in the way of a good headline. Coming in?
The indoor aquarium is the dream bit for me. I would love to have one. I know they really only belong in the homes of James Bond villains but I reckon it would be pretty cool.
It’s for rent and you can find the details here on Zoopla should you be interested. Well that’s enough excess for one week I think. Which one do you prefer?
