Vintage Wooden Stool

Every room should have some old wood in it. Whether it's just the floorboards or a few vintage chopping boards, wood brings warmth and character to a space. It's particularly important in a kitchen where there are often lots of cold surfaces and hard lines.

I have an intense dislike of most modern bar stools. They might be comfortable but, in my opinion, they rarely bring character to a space and I often prefer to seek out something either old or even slightly rustic.

It can be quite hard to find good stools that look as if they have had a life. My own came from ebay and were a lucky find. We also have a couple of singer sewing machine stools but they're rarer than hen's teeth these days and even more expensive.

These stools, from Discover Attic, are made from old chapati boards with a new iron base. That means that every one is slightly different and some will look a bit more "used" than others. They cost £85. What do you think?

If I needed more stools I would definitely snap up a couple of these. Below is a picture of mine. Although I have a very modern stainless steel worktop, the leather handles and vintage stools provide a contrast and stop it being too hard and modern.
